I am glad to know that under the auspices of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy a month-long the 16th Asian Biennial Fine Arts Exhibition Bangladesh 2014 is going to be held in Dhaka from 1st December to 31st December. On this glorious occasion, I extend my sincere thanks and felicitations to the organizers, viewers from home and abroad, artists, critics, collectors, judges, curators and all concerned.
Bangladesh is a riverine and fertile country of art-loving people. Astounding beauty of nature has overwhelmed the people of this area from time immemorial. Having devotion to art, literature and music and to the path of truth, beauty and peace, the people of this region are enormously enthused by deep artistic creativity. Imbued with the patriotic zeal, our countrymen nurtured aspirations for self-determination for a long time and achieved ultimate independence under the far-reaching and charismatic leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman, breaking the shackles of foreign rule over a hundreds of thousands years.
Culture is the behind-the-scene and psychologically inspirational force of a country, fine arts and sculpture being one of its main components. Bangladesh has always been playing a pivotal role in their practice, use, preservation, publicity and promotion. This exhibition bears the testimony to this direction. We are proud that our artists are now presenting their creative works in the international arena and glorifying country and nation. I hope, with the collective endeavour, this success and glory will continue in the days to come . We are as much wards of our mothers, soil and motherland, as are we citizens of the world. Though our thought and idea trans boundaries, but we will give special focus on our people, nation and nature. This is true for all countries.
I believe that artists of the participating countries will be able to achieve new experience through mutual discussion and exchange of opinion befriend one another through this exhibition. I believe that, in continuation of this, fine arts will more flourish with the continued touch of culture and heritage. May aesthetics of art cross borders and spread out to the universal mind, consolidating the bonds of fraternity and friendship among humans!
With this, I wish the 16th Asian Biennial Fine Arts Exhibition Bangladesh 2014 a grand success
Khoda Hafez. May Bangladesh Live Forever.
